Frequently asked questions

My cutting/plant arrived dead, what should I do?

I understand that a few plants may not survive due to environmental conditions or prolonged delivery time. If you expect the delivery to take longer (i.e. holidays), please upgrade to Priority Mail.

If you find that your plant(s) has developed root rot or dried out, please send me a picture within 24 hours of the package being delivered. If you do not send the picture by this specified time, then I have no way of knowing if it was damaged during delivery or by the aftercare.

Plants shipped via Priority Mail will be replaced (unless it is below 40 degrees and no heat pack was added). See the FAQ below for more information.
For plants sent via Standard shipping, it will vary on the situation and the agreed upon solution.

My cutting/plant arrived with damaged leaves or stem, what should I do?

Even though the plants are securely wrapped, I understand that some packages may still be thrown around during transit.

If a plant arrives with damaged leaves or stem, please send me a picture and we can go from there. Most of the time the plant can be cut off right below the damaged leaf/stem - this actually promotes new growth!

Do I really need a heat pack in the winter?

Yes!! Plants cannot survive prolonged exposure to weather that is in the low 40s or below. I strongly recommend purchasing a heat pack as an add-on and upgrading to USPS Priority during the cold months. Otherwise, I cannot take responsibility for the condition of any plants shipped without a heat pack and Priority Shipping.

Are the framed insects too delicate to ship?

Dried insects are extremely delicate. Because of that, I wrap the frames and cushion them within the package and put "FRAGILE" stickers on the package. Please be aware that in some cases delicate sections like antennae or legs might snap off during transit. If this were to happen, please send me a picture and we can go from there.

What if my plant/cutting arrived with pests?

While I cannot guarantee completely pest-free plants, I take every reasonable precaution to ensure they are free of them. I spray all my foliage/tropicals with a mineral oil + soap solution and/or insecticidal soap and succulents with alcohol + water mixture after receiving them and again before shipping them out. That being said, I understand that pests can sometimes hide in crevices or sneak in from other plant packages while in transit. Please carefully inspect your plant upon arrival and, if any pests are found, send a picture within 24 hours - I will work with you to find a solution.

In addition, it is best practice to treat any new plants and quarantine them for at least 2 weeks before joining with your plant collection!

What size pot should I use when potting my cutting or starter plant?

Rooted cuttings should be planted in a 2" pot so they can focus on growing an established root system. Once they become rootbound, you can repot to a 4".

For the starter plants, the size of the root system generally depends on the length of the plant. Lengthier plants may already be rootbound and can be potted in the next size up (2"-->4", 4"-->6"), while shorter plants should be planted in same size pot that you ordered until they become rootbound.

Remember to only go up one pot size when repotting! Otherwise overwatering and/or root rot is more likely to occur.
