About

Designs need not be complicated to be beautiful...

Growing up on a rural Southern Tier dairy farm, my family knew the value of handmade. My mother taught me to knit at an early age, and although I didn't see the value in it then, the enjoyment I received from creating something with my own hands has never left me.

My knitting pattern designs reflect my traditional, rural upbringing paired with my love of the natural world. They feature classic styling and lines combined with the hues and textures found in nature.

If I am at a lack for inspiration, all I need do is step outside my door and look around. From the gravel lining our drive to the tiniest caterpillar inching his way across a nearby leaf, inspiration is literally instant and everywhere I turn.

My goal as a designer is to create attractive and functional designs that are accessible to as many skill levels as possible with clear, accurate directions and charts. I don't want anyone to be intimidated by knitting. After all, it really is only two simple stitches, knit and purl. I fully work up each and every design myself and have others test knit them as well. Each pattern is then tech edited to standardize the terms and to remove any potential errors or inconsistencies that might make for possible confusion.

I desire that knitters who knit my designs find as much enjoyment and pleasure in working them as I did in designing them and diligently work toward making that happen.

Frequently asked questions
Does the EU Right of Withdrawal apply to digital goods?

Digital knitting patterns are EXEMPT from the EU Right of Withdrawal and therefore are non-returnable under said Right of Withdrawal.

What if I have a question about a pattern? Do you provide pattern support?

Absolutely! All of my patterns have been professionally tech edited and test knit to check for errors, but as we are all human and interpret things differently, I realize that sometimes there may be questions on a knitter's part or an error that has slipped through our careful checks.

I am always happy to assist with any pattern that you experience confusion or difficulty with. Please email me at melissa [!at] apiaryknits.com or simply convo me here at Etsy and I will be happy to work through your questions with you.

I bought a pattern thinking it was a finished item and now I want to return it. Can I?

Items are CLEARLY marked that they are knitting patterns, NOT finished knitted items. Always read all listing descriptions before purchasing so you know what you are buying.

If a file is marked as downloaded, I will not refund you for a "mistake" purchase. Please respect this policy and do not ask for a refund.

I emailed you and didn't receive a response. When should I expect one?

I make every effort to respond to your questions or concerns within a 24 hour time frame. Usually, it is much less depending upon when you contact me and when I check my email and convos.

If you haven't heard from me within 24 hours, it is likely that something went awry with your message and that I never received it. (I do check ALL my email folders.) If you have emailed me, please confirm that the email address you entered is correct. Better yet, use the Etsy convo system to contact me as there is not nearly the odds of a delivery failure using Etsy's internal communication system.

Please feel free to send me another message if I haven't responded within that 24 hour window. I'm here to help, but I just need to know you need it!
