Apple White Handmade- By Hand, With Heart
Here's an interview I did recently. I hope it will give you a little insight in to Apple White:
Q: How did you get into your business?
A: My mom taught me how to sew when I was a wee 5 year old. Back then I was known to sneak out of bed at night and into my mom’s sewing room to make a little doll dress or purse. Sewing and creating have been a huge part of my life since I was a kid.
I’ve had a dream of owning my own creative business for as long as I can remember. One day I woke up and thought, “It’s now or never”. I haven't looked back!
Q: What is your background?
A: My degree is in fine art.
Q: What makes your process unique?
A: My items are designed, cut and sewn by me. I like to include little surprises in my work. I've found I'm the happiest when I'm creating every day.
Q: What inspires you?
A: There’s nothing more inspiring to me than people using their natural talents. We all have them. What a world it would be if everyone was doing what they were good at - what made them happy. It takes courage to say “this is what I do, this is who I am”. Authenticity- that inspires me.
Q: What part of the process do you find most interesting?
A: I love watching a new item take shape. Because I design my own patterns, the end result is always a surprise.
Q:How would you describe your creations?
A: Fresh, modern, handmade designs with a vintage vibe.
Q: What is the most awesome feedback you’ve received about your shop?
A: I love hearing from my customers. When someone writes to thank me for their package it makes me realized how lucky I am to be doing what I love. One customer wrote “ Who knew handmade concoctions of fabric and stuffing could make people so happy”. I love that!
