Fair question! We’ll try to answer this while we explain a little of our background and why we’ve built a business all about aprons.
Who We Are
ApronMen.com is one of the brands of our parent company, Web Guidz, LLC. We’re a team of 16 to 20 (depending on the season) who are united by our love of people. We really do love people. Feel free to give us a call and find out for yourself! The picture above is us with a few of our friends and family at a 2019 team BBQ. Our founders Jordan and Scott are right in the middle on the bottom and middle rows with the red and blue shirts.
We work out of our warehouse and offices in Wenatchee, WA. Most of the aprons you'll find on this site are printed on here in Wenatchee when you order.
We also work in close partnership with the Amigos, a group of five adult men with developmental disabilities who we employ to make some of our products -- a relationship that has been a blessing to both them and us.
Our Values
First of all, we are in business to have a lasting, positive impact on society. Otherwise, business would just be … less meaningful, and a lot less fun. Aprons are a primary way we fill the world with a little more joy, happiness and generosity. We have a couple of important values when it comes to selling aprons:
We love employing people. This means that whenever possible we take the path that allows us to grow our team, even if it means making less profit. Most of our blank aprons come from China (we've looked for USA made options, but it's SO difficult and expensive). Beyond that, however, almost all the work is done here in Wenatchee. We print, fold and ship about 40,000 aprons a year. All of our customer service is done here as well.
We care about the planet. A couple years ago we made the move from polyester/cotton blends to 100% cotton to reduce our plastic footprint. Recently, we've started experimenting with a poly/cotton t-shirt blend that features 80% recycled plastic (from plastic bottles) and is produced in Haiti using fair labor standards. We like the idea of removing plastic already in the environment and putting it to good use. These aprons are not available yet, but we hope to have something like in the future.
We care about a quality experience: We want our aprons to make for great gift giving experiences. That means we take great care to make sure every apron we send is of a very high quality, is durable, is shipped quickly, and is packaged with great gift wrap options. Over the years we've tweaked our aprons many times to make the fabric more durable, the straps the right length to fit just about anyone, and the stitching and fabric patterns "just right" so that apron fits well and will last many uses.
How We Started
We'd love to tell you that we're 5th generation apron makers who eat, sleep and drink the apron life. But this just isn't true. The truth is our founders Scott and Jordan are former e-commerce consultants who wanted a great online brand they could call their own.
Over breakfast one day they discussed many ideas, including Panama hats, Yerba Mate and aprons. That was 2016. Over the last four years ApronMen.com has become exactly what they hoped: A growing business with great employees, a fun product and a mission worth pursuing.
