Artisan gemstone jewelry from Scandinavia
I live on the beautiful and dramatic East coast of Sweden with my loving husband and our two kids. The creative studio of Arctida is situated in the 400-year-old city of Luleå in Northern Sweden. However, the inspiration for my work as a glass fusing artist, textile artist, and jewelry maker is drawn from much farther north, where I was born and raised - from the Arctic Circle all the way up to the North Pole. The name Arctida refers to the hypothetical polar continent believed to have existed in the geological past of our planet.
The breathtaking northern nature, with its crisp polar nights and gleaming Northern Lights, serves as the primary source of inspiration for all my creations. Whether I am crafting vibrant fused glass art, intricate textile pieces, or unique jewelry, each work embodies the essence of the Scandinavian wilderness - from the majestic, untouched landscapes of the lone mountains, home to wandering herds of wild reindeer, to the even more remote and uninhabited icy expanses, where seals and polar bears thrive.
This deep connection to the Arctic, combined with my fascination for natural science (I am a molecular biologist by day), enables me to create distinct pieces of art that radiate both inner and outer strength. Every creation is a genuine, one-of-a-kind design, reflecting the raw beauty and wonder of the far north.
