Announcement    The magical, ephemeral dreaming mirror illustrations, and out of this world geometric paintings on this website have been created by fine artist and illustrator Emily Freiman of Napa Valley, California. Emily has painted many surfaces in her four-plus decades of artmaking, including doors, walls, floor cloths, silk, wood, fabric, canvas, lampshades, window shades, and even rocks! Surface textile design, Asian brush painting, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Wolf Kahn and are some of her influences.

Emily follows her imagination-her Muse, if you will, and often fearlessly enters new realms. Each hand-painted mirror is evoked by the "storytelling nights, walks outside under the moon and stars, and songs made up and sung to my children, when they were young". She is inspired by looking up at the night sky, creating stories and images from her limitless imagination.
Emily says this about her "Pursued' series: "Casein embodies an oil painted quality, in its depth of pigmentation and color brilliance. Envision relationship: the mathematical cleanness/certainty of defined lines and edges, predictable vivid, flat colors, intersecting organic shapes: circling, curving, rambling, unpredictable, otherworldly. When a sovereign shape intersects another, color changes occur, often colliding off each other. It's about relationship, "ships (flying discs?) passing in the night", space, depth, layers, movement. Geometrics and organics, side by side in a painting, both stable and resting.
