Inspired by a dancer. Designed and created by me.
I have had the distinct joy of raising a daughter who has a passion for classical ballet. Because of that I volunteered endless hours as an accomplished seamstress to create costumes and headpieces for her ballet school performances.
I designed the bags in my shop with my daughter in 2014 based on her input for a pointe shoe bag that was unique and different from the basic net bags she was using.
After opening the shop with just the bags I eventually added the headpieces. I love sparkle. I believe I inherited a sparkle gene from my Grandma who was a seamstress and made formal evening gowns. She was also an artisan and made items to sell at craft fairs. Everything from ornaments, to bird houses, to candle holders. The imagination and creativity was endless and some of it rubbed off on me! I love twisting wire and working with lovely crystals and beads to create one of a kind tiaras and crowns.
I originally opened this shop to raise funds for charity work. My daughter and I traveled with her ballet school to Manila to do outreach as part of an exchange program with Ballet Philippines. Her school performed in Ballet Philippines’ 45th anniversary celebration. We donated our pointe shoe bags, dance clothing, and ballet shoes, to young dancers in Manila. We purchased and served lunch at a refugee center for families displaced by Typhoon Haiyan.
