Hacer prendas desde cero da una cierta satisfacción que solo conocerás una vez hecho. Ser capaz de decir 'oh, lo logré' cuando recibes un cumplido sobre algo que hiciste solo te hace caminar un poco más alto y mantener la cabeza un poco más alta.
Si bien hacer ropa desde cero no puede ser un poco desalentador y también llevar mucho tiempo, vale la pena cuando tienes algo único, bien ajustado y de gran calidad. Es posible que pueda usar ese vestido de seda que tal vez no haya podido pagar, por lo tanto, conformarse con un vestido de poliéster barato que simplemente no se ajusta o se siente igual.
Otra opción para ayudar a reducir el desperdicio es la ropa de segunda mano (tienda de segunda mano). Si es alterando una prenda para que se adapte mejor a tu estilo quitando, añadiendo, alargando, acortando, etc, o descartando el estilo por completo y simplemente usando la tela para hacer algo completamente nuevo. Dar vida a un artículo que de otra manera se destinaría a un vertedero es algo gratificante y solo te hace sentir un poco mejor sabiendo que estás haciendo algo para ayudar a nuestro medio ambiente. Todo suma.

Making garments from scratch gives a certain satisfaction that you will only know once it’s done. Being able to say ‘oh I made it’ when you receive a compliment about something you made just makes you walk that little bit taller and hold your head that little bit higher.
While making clothes from scratch can’t be a little daunting and also time-consuming it is well worth it when you have something unique, well-fitting, and of great quality. You might be able to wear that silk dress that you might not have been able to afford therefore settling for a cheap polyester dress that just doesn’t quite fit or feel the same.
Another option to help reduce waste is up-cycling second-hand (thrift shop) clothing. If it be by altering a garment to better suit your style by removing, adding, lengthening, shortening, etc, or discarding the style completely and just using the fabric to make something entirely new. Giving life to an item otherwise destined for landfill is somewhat rewarding and just makes you feel that little bit better knowing you are doing something to help our environment. It all adds up.
