The accountant who became a ceramist
You may not believe me, but I didn't go to the great Ceramic Schools... and we have some excellent ones here in Quebec!
I learned the ceramist profession by practicing it, in the same way that I learned accounting, my trade for the last 30 years, by myself, at my own pace (which is often beyond the permitted limit …). 🚀
It is certainly not the easiest path but it is the one I have chosen and which suits me perfectly. I like to learn, all the time. I am passionately self-taught to the tips of my fingernails (which I have to keep very short to practice the magnificent profession of ceramist!).
I set up my workshop with a very specific goal in mind; create a universal product, which travels well (hello transport costs and ecology!), a container used to drink the second most consumed drink in the world after water,… coffee cups… Tadam!!!
I chose the casting technique and it took me two years to achieve a result that satisfied me. And as if that wasn't enough, while developing the first collection of cups, I also chose to make my own glazes, why not? So 275,000 tests, I don't know how many hours, cups cracked, stuck on oven shelves, green when I wanted them black later, I succeeded !!!
At the end of 2022 I gave birth to the Arches collection; 4 cup sizes, 3 shades, 3 finishes. And there will be many others. Follow me, you won't be bored and above all, you will see a product made with passion and patience, in 20 simple little steps 🙂
Welcome to my world!
