Hi, I'm Josh, welcome to Augmented Earth.

Augmented Earth is my latest ongoing post-photographic series where technology is given an unusual role: I instruct AI to become nature itself, guiding it to create art as if it were nature mimicking human artistic conventions. Unlike purely AI-generated art, every piece in this collection originates from my own photography—digitally manipulated and guided through AI to reimagine natural forms, and never generated from scratch.

Each piece begins with a simple photograph—flowers, sky, ocean—layered with hand-drawn digital textures that serve as the true canvas. AI is then used to combine, manipulate, and reinterpret these elements, constructing surreal landscapes that blur the boundary between organic and artificial. The interplay of light, organic shapes, and layered textures creates compositions that feel both familiar and alien—like nature dreaming of itself through digital eyes.

This process raises the question: what happens when nature, through the lens of technology, begins to imitate human artistic sensibilities rather than the other way around?
