Things, Things Things!
When I started housekeeping 50 years ago I started going to garage sales and estate sales and auctions to furnish my house. This was before it was popular to furnish a house this way but I just loved antiques and they were so much cheaper and so much prettier that the things that they were making in the 60's and 70's. I now have a house completely furnished by old things except for appliances. I've even just replaced my indoor doors with old salvaged doors!!
Needless to say, my house was too full but I kept buying. Even though I stopped collecting big items I could see I had to do something so I opened up my barn and started selling my big things that I didn't love so much,
My smaller items I started to sell online. Magazines were first. I saved everything "dogs". I started selling my AKC magazines that I had saved over the years. By listing the table of Contents they went like hotcakes and at that time the postage wasn't too bad. My collections are now going online. I have a room upstairs full of things to sell. I'm keeping my itsy bitsy dogs. I've painted seven large print drawers the same color as my wall, filled them with my miniature dogs (if they don't fit then they go) and used clay on their feet to attach them, purchased plexiglass that had small holes drilled in the corners the size of each drawer, attached the plexiglass to the drawer and then attached each drawer to the wall. You can see a wall of little dogs now and they are protected.
Now that my husband has passed, I've moved to a smaller home, sold the barn and contents and downsized and moved closer to my daughter. It really is nicer to work from my home. I'm still selling my collections (obviously) and when I buy I resolve to sell an equal sized piece. I love working with you people - you have all been wonderful. Thank you!!!!!
