Find What Inspires You

My love for exploring started when I was a kid. I remember being outdoors and uncovering all kinds of interesting finds, from arrowheads to pretty rocks, you name it. When I discovered jewelry and gemstones, I tapped into that inquisitive explorer again and loved to find beautiful stones to work into my art. After taking a few jewelry classes, I started selling my creations at local art shows. When kids and career came to play, my art took a back seat for a while. However, the passion was brought into the light again in 2014 when I decided to open my Etsy shop.

I really love retail and it’s always a thrill when someone wants to buy something I’ve made. Since opening my Etsy shop, I’ve also opened a store on Amazon and have my own stand-alone site—austindowntoearth.com. I’m so lucky, because working with stones is my happy place—like a kid in a candy store. I love exploring colors and discovering unusual shapes and just playing around with them until what it's meant to be is realized. I really never know what something will be (necklace, earrings, bracelet) until I get it home. It’s almost like figuring out what each stone’s purpose is—how it will live in a piece. That’s why I love this craft.

What is Gold Fill?

I use 14k Gold FIll for almost all of my gold products. Gold fill is a bonded layer of 14k gold over a base metal. It is considered the next best thing to 14k and is much more durable than gold plating.

Sizing details

What length should I choose? The best way to determine the length you need is to wrap a string around you necklace where you'd like the necklace to lay. Mark the string then measure it with a ruler or tape measure. Also, if you have a necklace with the length you like you can measure it against a ruler. The length you choose with your purchase includes the total of the chain and clasp from end to end. For most necklaces, a safe length is 18 inches for an average woman.
