Proud mama of two boys!
I opened up my shop after I discovered my passion for jewelry making. At first, I made pieces for close members of my family and friends and they liked them so much that they encouraged me to make more and sell to a wider audience.
The name "AutisModus" was something I came up with one quiet night playing around with the word "autism". My son was recently diagnosed and I wanted my shop name to have that word in it. I wanted it to be some type of wordplay. AutisModus just clicked and I was happy with the name. The world of Autism was new to me then and even though I saw this diagnosis early on, I was ready to dive right into it.
My life consists of holding a full-time job that I really like, driving my son to his therapy sessions, keeping up with his school and those dreaded IEP meetings. Having ABA in my home and being an audience for my kid's shenanigans.
A lot of my pieces are inspired by Autism and a lot of them are just feminine pieces that I like creating. Creating every single one takes me a good hour or two because I have to prepare the pieces beforehand, and then polish them up after if they have any type of metal stamping involved. I mostly work on my pieces after 10 pm when the kids have gone to bed. My husband is the most supportive guy and he encourages me to create.
I like what I do and every single piece is made knowing that someone out there took the time to look at my shop and spend their money because they saw something they liked. It makes it a more meaningful hobby for me that gives me an enormous satisfaction.
I have just opened a second shop where I sell fun items. Please feel free to look around. Hopefully you'll find something you like.
