Choosing one art medium is like choosing one flower for the garden; variety makes life more interesting!

I can't remember a time when I didn't make things; it's something that I have to do. My mom was an art teacher and everyone in my family is very creative. When we were small she let us draw on the walls in the living room before "wallpapering" with red burlap (of course we had plenty of paper, too!). It was this freedom of expression that has made me a mixed-media artist. After many years of classes and working on my own I have learned how to sew, knit, crochet, felt, draw, paint, bead, weld, carve, and sculpt and I love to combine techniques in my art pieces. When I sew I make all my own patterns, in fact I started making patterns for my stuffed animals when I was seven. Some of the artists who inspire me are Edward Gorey, Beatrix Potter, Arther Rackam, and Charles Addams.
