A Creative Trio
We are 3 family members (and also 3 best friends) who have been creating for as long as we can remember. This shared passion has been passed down to us via generations of talented women and we have embraced the gift of creativity and the joy that it brings to ourselves and to others.
We launched our Etsy shop, Avant-Carde, in 2009 as a way to showcase and sell our vintage-style cards, home decor and seasonal/holiday designs.
Because we love the elegance of the vintage era, we chose this as the theme for our greeting cards as well as our home decor and gift items. We are inspired by the colors, textures and patterns found in paper, ribbons, fabrics and other 'ephemera'. Working from our vast collection of supplies and using our combined skills allows us to create truly unique designs.
We can often be found scouring antique shops, hand-dyeing lace and other goodies to create a desired look, making ribbon and paper flowers, embroidering, beading or learning a new technique to incorporate into our work.
We take great pride in creating meaningful designs and in the relationships we form with each of our clients.
We each have our own studios ( located in the beautiful Georgian Bay region of Ontario, Canada ) where we work individually. We come together to plan out our work, share new finds and, of course, create !! We consider ourselves lucky to be indulging in our passion every day and laughing along the way. Doing it together makes it even more enjoyable and we know the best is yet to come ...
