Scientist to Artist
When my research scientist job came to an end by a company-wide shutdown, I became a stay-at-home mom. I can't sit still, so I decided to get creative. There were always projects I wanted to do, but never had the time to do them. I was inspired and encouraged by my artist husband and his gang of crafty, artist friends.
My daughter Azalea, the three-nager in our family, inspired the hair business part. She despises hair things and is quick to pull them out once they are in. When I made her a few cat and pony hair clips just for fun, she had to have not one, but 5-6 in her hair at one time! Hmmmmm...she sparked a business idea. She is my fellow designer at the ripe old age of 3.
As for my first-born, and also stillborn daughter, affectionately named Sprout, she is the inspiration for the alphabet book you see on my site. It was the idea of my friends at Sprout's baby shower to make her a personalized ABC book. I finally decided it was high time to create a book format to benefit non-profit organizations that assist families with the grief of child loss.
This is how it came to be Azalea & Sprout.
