Shop policies
I belong to a worldwide community of ethnic jewelers and collectors and try to ensure that the items for sale are genuine, special and extraordinary and the metals and beads used are the real deal. I hope to offer the most rare, beautiful and wonderful things. My main area of interest is North and West Africa - particularly the Sahara Desert. For new items we design ourselves the Sahara and its tribal traditions is our total inspiration.
I am happy to discuss the known history and provenance of any item. I research each item carefully and try to impart this knowledge to you.
I am based in London, England where I also deal from markets here.
SILVER PURITY
Many of the antique items are made from silver or silver mixes. Tribal silver is not the same as sterling silver.
Tribes melt and remelt items with coins and older jewels and this is a part of their charm and value. Even low amounts of silver in an item do not mean to say it is worth any less as it could be typical of that tribe to use lower grade mixes.
We test each item with acid and where the acid shows there is a significant amount of silver we describe the item as made of 'good silver' or 'high grade'.
This could mean 800 or above. Where there are lower amounts of silver we state the item as a 'silver mix'.
I design and make new silver pieces and describe them as fine silver which means over 960 parts silver to 1000. We have these marked at the London Assay office with our own AzulTribe signature and purity mark. More to come in 2016
Accepted payment methods
Returns & exchanges
Payment
For China DHL is the best courier. I have lost too may items in the normal post to there, so if you wish to buy from China I will have to raise the postage to cover DHL charges.
Shipping
For China and New Zealand sending jewellery by Royal Mail is prohibited and thus cannot be insured. If you wish to have items sent by Royal Mail signed and tracked ie the cheapest way, then you do so at your own risk.
