Leading the way in sustainability since 1971
BRING is a waste-based non-profit organization located in Eugene, Oregon. Our goal is to recover reusable materials from the landfill and educate the public on the importance of reuse. Our journey started in 1971 when we began collecting materials that no one had recycled before —plastic, milk cartons, e-waste. But then, we made the leap from glass jars to glass windows, and from metal cans to stainless steel sinks. Soon our quarters were overflowing with reusable materials of all kinds. Builders, artists, fabricators, and bargain hunters combed through the piles, and through the years, BRING became a haven for creative reusers. Over time our organization has evolved into a well-organized combination home improvement and thrift store where we resell building materials donated from residents and businesses in the community to fuel the circular economy within our region.

In 2020 we endured the most destructive wildfire season on record in Oregon. When the smoke became so thick that we needed to temporarily close our store, we realized we had to evolve even further to stay afloat in this ever-changing, fast-paced world. It was then we decided to launch an online store and reimagine our Etsy! Our Etsy page helps us support our employees and keep the lights on while our physical storefront is closed and will help to stabilize our organization in uncertain times.
Our idea for pressing skateboard decks came in 2021 when we partnered with Tactics, a local skateboard shop. The shop collects un-rideable, old, and broken skateboard decks from customers and donates them to BRING. Using an in-house press, we make colorful laminated skate deck material in our woodshop. We then shape this recycled material into jewelry, keychains, and more! You will see these items available for purchase here.
In partnership with the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC), which manages a biocycle tree farm in Eugene, we receive donations of milled poplar lumber to create waste-to-wood products like our charcuterie boards.
