After I married my high school sweetheart (awwwwww...) in June 2008, I finished my undergraduate degree at Colorado State University in Social Work/Family Studies. After graduating in 2009 and working full-time as a social worker for an assisted living my son, Roman, was born in May 2011. During my maternity leave which was a short three months, I came up with the idea to make a few mobiles for my son since the ones I had seen in stores and online weren't really appealing to me or if they were, they were WAY too expensive! I made an animal and car mobile for Roman, one for his crib and one for his changing table. His reaction was incredible and made the effort of making something that seemed to simple so worth it. My mom eventually said that I should make more and sell them which turned into me making them as gifts for friends first since I didn't think they were good enough to sell. After making a dozen or so, I discovered Etsy through my friend from work, Mindy, who had a successful Etsy shop of her own. I worked hard at perfecting my product and getting it ready to market. It was a slow start but I eventually started making more and more sales and decided to come out with two additional mobiles. One of which is my biggest seller, the hot air balloons! Starting an Etsy store allowed me to not return to work and be at home with my son which was the greatest blessing I could ask for. I love creating custom mobiles and allowing my customers to get exactly what they want for an affordable price. More than anything, I love putting a smile on those baby's faces :)
