It all started with soap...
I happened upon the handmade beauty world completely by accident. As I began to get older I started noticing changes in my skin. After much research, I sought out natural products with the hope that a return to nature would solve my problems. Much to my dismay, commercially available natural products proved few and far between (and WAY out of my price range!). Even when I found companies committed to natural products, I was disheartened to find that synthetics were being slipped in where I felt they didn’t need to be. Being industrious as I am, I decided to take control. I studied for a long time before making my first batch of soap. Then I was hooked.
Hand crafting soap is a lesson in patience. It takes an average of 8 weeks to make the perfect bar of soap. Its this time and care that what make it worth it and differentiates cold process soap from the commercially available chemically derived beauty bars.
Backyard Soapsmith is not only an outlet for my craft, it is an avenue for me to sharing my passion with you and it is certainly a privilege.
