Assalamu alaikum, and welcome to Balacona Studio.
We are a small design studio made up of people living in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium, with roots in the Arab world. We grew up with the same gap: materials that teach Arabic, and products made for our own community, were never easy to find. And when we did find them, there was little choice, and the design rarely felt like ours.
And that is the heart of this shop: making what we could not find. Islamic wall art, calendars, Ramadan collections and learning materials for children, in calm, modern designs inspired by our mother cultures. The Arabic is always paired with English, Dutch, French or German, so a child, a parent and a grandparent can all read the same wall. And because these texts matter, every verse and quote is copied from published sources and proofread before a design is published.
The digital files are instant downloads you print yourself. The printed pieces are made to order by our print partner at a facility close to you, mostly in Europe, so they travel less and arrive faster.
Shukran for stopping by. We hope our designs find a place in your home.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get my digital files?
Right after payment, Etsy gives you the download link on your order page and by email. Files are PDFs, sized A4 and US Letter (some designs also A3). Print them at home or at any local print shop.
Where are printed items made and shipped from?
Printed posters and calendars are made to order by our print partner, Gelato, at a production facility close to you, usually in Europe. Nothing is shipped from the United States. Shipping is free within the EU and the UK; US buyers see the shipping cost at checkout.
How long does a printed order take?
Production usually takes 2 to 4 business days. After that it ships with tracking, and most orders in Europe arrive within about a week in total.
Can I return an item?
Digital files cannot be returned, because the download is instant. Printed items can be returned within 14 days and the buyer pays the return shipping. If your print arrives damaged or with a print error, send us a photo and we reprint it or refund you.
Which languages do the designs come in?
Every design has four editions: Arabic with English, Arabic with Dutch, Arabic with French, and Arabic with German. The listing title tells you which edition you are buying, so check it before you order.
Can you personalise a design for me?
Not yet. On the Ramadan countdown poster there is a line for your family name, ready to write in by hand once it hangs on your wall.
Where do the Arabic quotes come from?
The Quran verses and hadith in the wall art are copied from published sources and proofread before any design is published. Each listing names the source in its description.
