    Owner

I've been working with bamboo since my first job in 2000. I worked with the American Bamboo Society to edit and publish its annual species list in the early 00s. Now I'm taking my skills to the next level and starting my own thing.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there a hole through the center of my bamboo?

In order to char bamboo you have to knock out the nodes (sections) of the bamboo otherwise it will explode! If you need a piece that does not have a hole in it, please let me know and I will custom make one for you.

Why don't my poles look exactly like the photos?

Every piece of bamboo I sell is unique in its own way and will have a slightly different char and slightly different characteristics. I think this gives each piece its own personality but I do everything I can to keep the process consistent so you know what to expect when you order.

My bamboo arrived cracked!

I do offer exchanges if any of the bamboo gets cracked or otherwise damaged during transport. Sometimes it happens! You've seen how your delivery drivers handle packages so I am sure you understand. I do not accept exchanges after 30 days from the date of delivery.

See below for care instructions after you have received your bamboo.

How do I make sure my bamboo lasts as long as possible?

If it is an outdoor item I suggest coating it with spar urethane at least twice a year to keep it from cracking or getting moldy. You can get this from Amazon or most home improvement stores. I recommend the water based as it dries really quickly. If you want extra protection you can use oil based but it will take a few days to dry fully.

If you have an indoor item, rub it semi-regularly with wood oil. I use either teak oil, tung oil, mineral oil or coconut oil.

Bamboo will weather over time. It will get cracks and change color, especially if it is outdoors all the time. You can repair cracks with any wood glue and use the instructions above to keep the color the way you want it.
