Professional Pattern Making, From Hand Drafting to Digital Design
BasicPatternBlock is an independent family business built around Asimenia’s experience in pattern making and garment construction, with Elena managing the brand’s day-to-day operations and development.
Asimenia’s journey began in Greece, where she trained in computing at a time when it was still a new field, while also learning cutting, sewing, and drafting patterns by hand. These two areas of knowledge would later come together in her work with digital patterns.
Her career has taken her through numerous clothing manufacturers, freelance projects, and a public-sector role focused on garment production and fashion trend forecasting. When digital pattern-making systems became available, she brought her computing skills and practical garment experience together, moving from paper drafting to digital design. She continues to work as a freelance pattern maker today.
BasicPatternBlock brings that professional experience to designers, fashion students, and home sewists around the world. Our collection includes pattern blocks for developing your own designs, sewing patterns for making specific garments, and editable digital options for those who want to adapt the pattern files themselves.
Our pattern blocks are intended as foundations for design development and do not include seam allowances or step-by-step sewing instructions. Our sewing patterns include illustrated sewing instructions. Please check each listing for its size range, file formats, and contents so you can choose the right option for your project.
Elena looks after the running and growth of BasicPatternBlock, bringing her own sewing knowledge and eye for emerging trends to the business. Together, we combine practical pattern-making experience with the everyday needs of a modern sewing community.
Whether you are developing a collection or sewing something for yourself, our aim is to give you a useful starting point and room to make it your own.
Thank you for supporting our work.
