Well, I never expected people to want my bad art but y'all keep asking for it so I'll keep giving it to ya. [I love y'all]
You know when you want something and you cant find anyone who's making it so you just make it yourself, then your friend wants one, and then another person wants one, and eventually you cant afford to keep giving stuff out so you gotta start playing capitalism but you feel bad about it because you dont really enjoy capitalism? Hey thats me! I got ADD, girl style, so I make a lot of weird things and I get bored of it. Carving Linocut patches is the only thing I've been able to consistently keep up with enough to sell for months in a row...let alone years.
The shop name came from a joke I made well over a decade ago. I discovered a love for bats and I couldn't stop gushing to my artist friend about them, sending pictures and whatnot. One day I caught her drawing a bat, and I laughed at her and said "Well, it looks like I'm a Bat Influence!!" Aaaand I've been laughing ever since
Mentioning Linocut, that would be my process! All of these designs are first drawn up on my ancient IPad, printed at a library, marked on a big rubber piece, and painfully carved out. I have ruined every kitchen table I've owned. This means every one is a little different. I've learned that the thinner fabric doesn't fray as bad and has cleaner lines so I'll be transitioning to that when I can. It's a lot of work for things to look that bad but I've tried screen printing and it went terribly and I cannot afford to keep trying right now. Maybe in the future.
Now these days..I'm a full time student! [I chose mortuary school because I care a LOT about green funerals and bringing green forms of disposition to my country and province] This also means my cute little side gig...is now my only source of income. So, if you buy a crappy patch from me please know you're helping me with things like medication, cat food, coffee, and bread that doesnt ruin my guts. Im extremely grateful for every one of y'all.
With the current ....American postal weirdness.. I'm doing my absolute hardest to keep shipping affordable because I know my art is not worth a $20 shipping fee and I wouldnt feel right charging that. This is why I send untracked lettermail. This also means it requires a little more patience.
Thanks for taking the time to read my lore! If anyone's ever interested in an art trade, hit me up! :]
KEEP BEING BATTY 🦇
