Robert grew up spending his summers in New Buffalo with his parents and sailing around Lake Michigan on their boat, and I grew up spending my summers doing swim team at the neighborhood pool. Our paths probably crossed several times in life, but we didn't meet until we were in college.
Robert and I are both Mechanical Engineers by trade and met while taking a physics class over the summer at our local community college. We had instant chemistry, but as fate would have it my family was moving to a different state at the end of the summer, and Robert and I went to different colleges. We decided we liked each other too much to let distance keep us apart, so we dated long distance for 3 years while we finished college.
I was at the University of Michigan and Robert was at the University of Illinois. We would go weeks without seeing each other, but his family's lake house in New Buffalo was a great middle point. We'd often meet in New Buffalo to spend some time together during the school year, and in the summers I'd come every weekend and spend it with Robert and his family at their lake house.
Robert and his family introduced me to the wonderful lifestyle that is escaping to the lake on the weekends and thus, Beach House Weekend was born. Robert grew up with the lifestyle and I was lucky enough to get a taste of it when we met. We both know that escaping to the beach is medicine for the soul and have little tributes to the lifestyle all over our home. So whether you have a boat, a lake house, or are just like us and are working on getting one of your own we're here to help you embrace those weekend feelings at the beach - because a beach house weekend isn't just a lifestyle, it's a state of mind.
