About Josh I am a working storyboard artist / illustrator / sculptor living in the midwest – North Dakota to be exact. For as long as I can remember I’ve loved to draw, sculpt and paint. I’ve loved movies and comics and toys for as long as I can remember. All I ever wanted to do was create strange new worlds and be a part of great projects. After graduating from SCAD, I moved with my wife to be to Los Angeles. I learned a lot in my early career working on a variety of projects from short and feature films, to toy and product design, to comic books, to animation backgrounds, to sculpting fx and miniatures, and so on. Gradually, I moved on to larger projects and my name got around. After several years working in LA, my wife and I moved back up to North Dakota where I started up my own studio. And with the internet, it’s easy to work from here. I have created some fun art pieces for you here at the beachtoprairie store. I hope you find something that amuses and delights.

Boyd Hagen
Watercolor Artist
Doctor Boyd Hagen was born and raised in Devils Lake ND. Boyd has been in active medical practice in Nelson County since 1971. After moving their home, Troll Hagen, over the ice of Devils Lake in 1998, they have resided north of Lakota. For Boyd, art is a passion and affords him a means of putting visualized imagination upon paper for posterity – to create what was not there before for others to see. The Nelson County Arts Council renewed his interest in watercolor painting through a workshop instructed by the Fargo artist, Michael Dunn. Boyd’s favorite subjects to paint are wildlife and hunting scenes. Boyd relates that “if you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” .

Caroline was also born and raised in Devils Lake ND. She is a professor at Jamestown College and also Chair of the Teacher Education Department. Caroline’s free time is enjoyed with her husband, Boyd, and their cats. Hobbies include studying wildlife that visit their home, walking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, gardening, waterfowl hunting, and anything that involves the outdoors. In addition to this, she loves reading, music, and watching old movies.
