Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders - we love them!

We have existing listings set up for personalized Braille Jewelry orders, as these are some of our most popular items!

In addition, custom Braille Art orders are possible and welcome! The time necessary to create your personalized artwork may vary and, depending on the item requested, may take approximately a month to create, so please plan in advance. You can create your custom Braille Art order using either one of our photographs or by providing one of your own, and you can select the message you would like us to include in braille. By providing us with a photograph to use for a custom order, you certify that you have the right to use that photograph for this purpose.

Custom and personalized orders - product photos and surprises

When you place a custom order with us, you give Beadtography permission to use product photos for our portfolio on various websites, including but not limited to: Facebook, Etsy, and Instagram.

If you do not want us to use product photos of your order, please let us know before your order is completed; we are always happy to respect your wishes.

In addition, if you let us know the date of a celebration, we will take care not to publish any product photographs before the celebration - we love surprises, and we wouldn't want to spoil yours!

Custom and personalized orders - uncontracted (Grade 1) versus contracted (Grade 2) braille

Please be aware that by default we use uncontracted (Grade 1) braille and that all braille beading and embossing is done by hand, so it will not be perfectly aligned or of absolutely uniform size, due to the realities of handcrafting.

We love incorporating visual and tactile art, and we are most comfortable using uncontracted (Grade 1) braille. If you would like to order a piece of art with custom braille beading using contracted (Grade 2) braille, we are happy to do that - just know that we may need guidance from you, as we are not as experienced with Grade 2 contractions.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All of our jewelry items will come carefully packaged in a colorful, decorative organza bag, along with one of our business cards - ready for gift giving or for treating yourself!

All prices are removed from our products and any tags prior to shipping, so you will never have to double-check for that information, if it is intended as a gift.

If you are sending one of our creations directly to a gift recipient and would like us to include a card with a message from you to them, please just let us know in the Notes to Seller box at checkout, as we are happy to do that for you (we reserve the right to decline this service for insulting, racist, or otherwise offensive content).

Damage in shipping - please let us know, with pictures

If your item is damaged in transit, please be prepared to send us pictures of the item and the packaging within 24 hours of receiving it. We will need this information from you both to confirm the damage and to make sure insurance covers the loss.

Shipping - time estimates and local pickup option

By default, we ship all items USPS First Class Mail and include insurance when shipping to locations within the United States, unless another shipping option is selected at checkout. Although shipping times may vary, and items often arrive MUCH more quickly, please allow 1-2 weeks to receive your package via USPS. Please allow longer for international deliveries, as these times may vary based on location.

If you are local and would prefer to meet and not have your item shipped, message us before you place your order - if we can work something out that is mutually convenient, we can send you a coupon code to void the shipping costs when you place your order.

Shipping - address and customs information

Please make sure your address is correct when placing your order. If an unconfirmed or incorrect address is provided to us, Beadtography is not responsible for any delay in shipping times, additional shipping, rerouting fees, or stolen packages.

International buyers are responsible for paying any customs or other fees.

Sales tax and contact information - we love to hear from you!

Beginning January 1, 2018, the Etsy interface will automatically calculate and add the appropriate amount of sales tax to many orders. This is not something that our shop manages.

In addition to the Etsy messaging system, you can also reach us by email at beadtography@gmail.com. We love hearing from our customers - that is the best part of creating our art!

Refunds and returns

We want you to love our creations as much as we do! Although we do our best to accurately describe and photograph our items, if you find that an item you receive is not as described, please contact us within 14 days for a refund of the amount that you paid to us. Refunds will be processed when we receive the item back from you in the same condition we sent it to you. Please be mindful that although the colors of all photographed items appear accurately on our monitor, monitors do vary.

All custom orders and items on sale are final and non-returnable. We also do not accept returns on any of our earrings for hygiene reasons, as these are intimate items and cannot be resold once worn.
