Linocut - watercolour - useable artwork - fine art

Looking for something handmade? Let me tell you about my process.

What is block printing? Also called linocut, it’s a form of printmaking. It’s completely different than printing something from your computer. With block printing, I come up with a design, sketching it out on paper. I then transfer the design to the block. I often use soft material, but occasionally use harder material, such as lino (hence the name linocut). Using sharp tools, I carve away any areas of the design that I don’t want to print. Once carved, I apply a thin layer of ink, and print it onto a piece of paper by hand. Because of the handmade nature of the entire process, each print is unique with imperfections adding to the artistry of each piece.
