Hand drawn cards supporting children with cancer
Novalie was 5 years old in May 2019 when she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Our lives were turned upside down and we spent long stretches of time either in hospital, or living in accommodation near the hospital.
Novalie is now 10 year old and has battling leukaemia for 5 years after having two relapses while on treatment.
We have always loved art, and during Novalie's treatment (which also coincided with my own breast cancer treatment), we found art very therapeutic. Together we turned the bleak walls of the cancer ward into an art gallery full of inspirational quotes.
When Mother's Day 2022 was approaching, some of Novalie's favourite nurses asked her to make cards for their mums. She ended up making 12 cards and had so much fun in the process. Due to a huge amount of requests, by the time Father's Day rolled around, Novalie made 100 cards. Our cramped hospital room turned into a greeting card factory!
Novalie finally got to leave hospital after a very lengthy admission in spring 2022. It wasn't long before she was thinking about designing Christmas cards and setting up an Etsy store! Since her Etsy store began she has expanded into a range of greeting cards, stickers, wrapping paper, gift tags, note pads and tote bags.
Novalie was lucky enough to create an artwork for Eliza and Liberty on The Block in 2023.
Novalie gives 50% of profits to some of her favourite kids' cancer charities including the Abbey Solo Foundation, Children's Cancer Institute, and Koala Kids (check her Instagram for fundraising updates!).
We really appreciate our supporters who are helping to turn a horrendous experience into a creative and purposeful one!
