5 out of 5 starsAn impressive job recreating an original pattern (a lot of work went into this). The pattern has been meticulously reproduced, and the instructions are extensive and very clear. Flawless. I highly recommend it. The work done here makes the process much easier, and the dress design is stunning. Well done.

Frequently asked questions
Why are some vintage patterns missing instructions or pieces?
Many sewing patterns from before the 1940s included little to no instruction and often omitted pieces like facings, collars, cuffs, or linings. At the time, home sewists were expected to draft those elements themselves and already understand garment construction. Because my patterns are direct reproductions of the originals, they reflect the same assumptions. By purchasing, you acknowledge that some patterns may require intermediate sewing knowledge and may not include every piece or step-by-step direction. Feel free to message me with questions before ordering!
How do I print the digital patterns?
Most patterns come as tiled PDFs you can print at home (on 8.5x11 or A4) or as large-format A0/copy shop files when available. Be sure to print at 100% or “actual size” with no scaling so the test square measures correctly. After printing, trim and tape the pages together following the layout guide. Some patterns are in Large-format only. If that is the case, it will state that in the title and description. That means you cannot print at home on a regular home printer (unless you have a large-format printer 36" width). If you’re unsure which format your pattern includes, just message me—I'm happy to help!
What sizes are vintage patterns based on?
Vintage sizing is very different from modern ready-to-wear clothing. A “size 14” in 1940 might fit someone who wears a modern size 6 or 8. Always choose your pattern based on the listed body measurements, not the size number. If you’re between sizes or unsure how a pattern translates to modern fit, message me and I can help you check the measurements before you buy.
Can I use these patterns for commercial sewing?
Patterns are intended for personal use, but small handmade sellers are welcome to use them to create garments to sell—as long as the finished items are made by you and not mass-produced. The digital pattern files themselves may not be shared, copied, or resold in any form. If you plan to use a design repeatedly for your business, I always appreciate a shop mention or credit!
What if a pattern piece seems missing?
It’s very common for vintage patterns—especially those from the early to mid-1900s—to leave out pieces we expect today. Originals often did not include separate facings, collars, cuffs, waistbands, or linings. Sewists were expected to cut those from the main pattern pieces, draft them themselves, or use standard construction techniques of the time. Some pieces may also be placed on the fold, combined, or printed as cut-away extensions rather than separate shapes.
Because my files are accurate reproductions of the originals, they preserve these quirks. If something appears “missing,” it’s usually true to the era and not an error in the file.

Do you offer printed (paper) patterns?
All patterns in my shop are delivered as digital downloads and are intended to be printed at home or through a copy shop. I do not carry paper patterns as a standard offering.
However, I understand that not everyone has access to a printer. If you need a physical copy, please message me before purchasing and I can create custom listing for you for a paper pattern. Printing and shipping costs will be included in that option, and I’ll make sure you receive the full pattern in a usable format.
I’m happy to help—just reach out if a printed version is essential for you!
