I am delighted with this gorgeous teapot and arrangement. So well packed, as always, and ended up right in the center of the dining room table. I am always so pleased with everything I purchase from you. It was packed so well. I love, love, love it! Never a disappointment!! Thank you so much.

About

I was programmed at an early age to love color and texture and to make things with my hands.

As a little girl I sat at my grandmother’s knee piecing quilt blocks. I was already learning to ply a needle and to see how colors worked together.

I grew up in a Midwestern home where clothes and home décor were handmade, sometimes from the same bolt of bargain fabric. As a youngster, I dreaded sitting on our enclosed porch where the cushion covers and curtains matched my summer play clothes. But I convinced this same frugal Mother to let me stage my bride doll’s wedding reception in our yard complete with a three tiered wedding cake. I felt it was my just reward for having designed and sewn her thirty piece wardrobe from pilfered scraps from my Mother’s fabric drawer.

My father, who had built our house, was part of this influence as well. It was he who looked on with encouragement as I, in the shadow of his basement workbench, attempted to craft my own dollhouse furniture.

So as an adult, making things has come naturally to me. When my three year old son was enamored of Richard Scarry’s Mr. Hedgehog’s Christmas, I made him a two story stump house from a garbage can complete with a hedgehog family and their furniture.

Eventually, we moved to the Hudson Valley and I discovered a world of antiques and in nearby New York City an endless variety of fabric stores. A vintage shopper was born and a fabric junkie was hooked. Soon I had opened a shop of handmade décor and antique collectibles in a portion of our Victorian home. This little shop fed my creative instincts for two decades and introduced me to many lovely people. It was these folks that walked through my shop door that inspired me to seek out the next wonderful thing or tailor my handmade articles to their needs.

Having sold the Victorian and closed my shop, we are in smaller digs. But, I am again entranced by what just a tabletop can offer in the way of visual stimulation. I’m absorbed again in finding the vintage pieces that will showcase cookery or give the eye a pleasant place to rest. I can totally lose myself in the process of pulling together a floral arrangement, choosing just the right container to complement the blooms. And best of all I love repurposing an old piece to give it a brand new adventure in its life.

In short, I’m beguiled again by my love of color and texture and using my hands to put together what I see in my head.

I am so pleased to have this vibrant Etsy community as a venue to share my passions. You may not walk through my physical shop door now, but I still look forward to meeting you and pleasing you in this virtual place called Etsy.
