Frequently asked questions

Are your needle-felting kits suitable for children?

Our kits are designed with adults in mind but we have found that children as young as nine get on very well with needle-felting. However, they are NOT toys and anyone under the age of 14 should be supervised by an adult when using the sharp needle.

Are your kits planet-friendly?

Yes. As much as possible, we use natural materials inside our kits and avoid any waste, in particular plastic waste. Our packaging is made from recycled cardboard and is biodegradable. Our mailing bags are made from recycled plastic and are re-useable and recyclable too. The only plastic materials inside our kits are the bead eyes in our creature kits and the beads in our jewellery-making kits. We hope that these will be kept and treasured - not chucked away! Also, we source our materials from reputable suppliers as close to home as we can. The UK where possible and Europe where necessary to ensure the highest quality.

Can you guarantee that your materials are high-quality?

Our motto is Craft not Crap! We hate to see cheap kits that contain nasty, synthetic fibres that destroy the planet and leave you feeling disappointed. It is our mission to include only the very highest quality materials inside our kits. We use recycled cotton cords in our macramé kits, all-natural animal wools and the finest steel needles in our felting kits, and the most beautiful Italian crépe paper in our flower-making kits.

Is everything you need inside the box?

We provide the core materials and instructions inside each kit and assume that the buyer will have the basic household items to complete the projects. These might include things like scissors, a ruler, craft glue, tape or a pencil. Our needle-felting kits all require you to work on a soft surface such as a sponge or felting mat. The reason we don't include these inside every kit is because A) you don't need anything specialist - a cheap bath sponge will do. And B) We are concerned about the impact on the environment if there was an unnecessary foam pad inside every box. Imagine how many each customer might end up with!

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Yes! We have some lovely bright tissue paper, which can be used to wrap your kits if they are being sent as a gift. Simply send us a note when you order and we can do this free of charge. We also have some pretty postcards and will hand write a personal note from you to the recipient.

Do you offer wholesale prices?

We are open to wholesale requests for our craft kit boxes and can provide a price list and minimum order requirement on application. We love working with small independent retailers, especially those that share our ethos of high-quality, low environmental impact. Please get in touch to find out more.

What if I have never tried craft before – can I complete the projects?

Absolutely! We include step-by-step photographic instructions inside all of our craft kits and, in some cases, we have video tutorials on our website too. We teach workshops both online and in our local area and so choose classes that we have presented to beginners to go inside our boxes. This way, we have tested them first. If you have any problems completing your kit, you can get in touch and we can always help!

Where do you get your ideas for new craft kits?

Both Katie & Rachel studied art and design at university and have been drawing, painting and making ever since – which is a very long time! Consequently, their ideas come from their own observations, experiments and sketches. Rachel's background is in textile design and craft writing and so she brings her passion for fabrics, felting, weaving and macramé to the workroom. Katie was a graphic designer for many years and loves to make characterful creatures and illustrations, which she translates into her needle-felting, paper craft and embroidery designs.
