From a Search for Comfort to a Family of Artisans: The Bespoky Story
Hello and welcome to Bespoky.
I am Mesut Bozkurt — leather worker, designer, and the founder of this small atelier. The story of Bespoky began with a search that most people who land on this page already know: looking for shoes that respect the natural shape of the human foot — wide toe box, zero drop, flexible sole — but still look beautiful enough to wear every day. When I could not find what I was looking for, my wife Tugba and I decided to make them ourselves.
A FAMILY ATELIER IN GAZIANTEP
Bespoky is rooted in Gaziantep, a city in southeastern Türkiye famous for centuries of leather craft. Our small team of artisans hand-cuts, hand-lasts, and hand-stitches every pair using techniques passed down from old-world Turkish shoemaking and the traditional Yemeni style — combined with what modern barefoot science teaches us about how the human foot actually works.
WHY WIDE TOE BOX MATTERS
Healthy feet are wider at the toes than at the heel. Most modern shoes invert this anatomy and squeeze toes inward, which contributes to bunions, hammer toes, and weakened arches over time. Inspired by foot-anatomy research from podiatrists like Dr. Ray McClanahan, every Bespoky last is shaped to let your toes splay naturally — the way they were meant to.
OUR LEATHER & SUSTAINABILITY
We use full-grain Turkish cowhide, vegetable-tanned where possible, and we work with local tanneries we have known for years. Our atelier is small by design — we produce in limited runs and almost zero waste; every leather scrap becomes lining, accent, or insole. We do not use animal glue replacements that contain plastic, and our packaging is recyclable kraft paper with hand-tied twine.

There is no factory, no automation, no shortcuts. Each pair you order is built specifically for you by people whose hands have shaped leather for decades. This is slow fashion at its most literal — a single pair of Yemeni leather slippers passes through six skilled hands before it reaches your door.

For US customers, we pre-pay 100% of import duties, customs taxes, and broker fees on your behalf — you will never receive a customs bill or surprise charge at delivery. International orders also ship DDP. Your invoice from Bespoky is your final cost, door to door.
