Bringing color and heART into homes
I taught high school art for many years, where I taught and learned about art everyday. I taught my students. They taught me, a lot! When I found Etsy, I finally found an outlet for all of the things that I created and wanted to create! My first online sale of my art was a clay tile with a fish on it. I was so excited. So I started dreaming of more things to create that I could sell. Not long after opening my Etsy shop, an artist on Etsy asked me to create one of my whimsical custom tiles for her and trade it for one of her paintings. She wanted her dogs to be included with a house. So I created a tile with her dogs and part of her house and I received a beautiful painting in exchange. My clay tiles began to sell, which led to more clay tiles with houses, and that led to freestanding whimsical houses. Those little houses were so fun to create that I continued to create more and more of the tiny little cottages in all different bright colors and whimsical styles. And they started to sell! They have continued to evolve and are in many collections all over the country.
I also like to paint whimsical subjects with acrylics and draw with colored pencils and pen and ink. So while I'm waiting for my clay houses to dry, I can paint and draw. I always have several projects going so I'm always motivated to create.
