A simple retirement hobby committed to supporting charities and humanitarian efforts
Después de jubilarme, empecé a construir juguetes para mis nietas y amigas: proyectos sencillos al principio, luego, poco a poco, más grandes. En poco tiempo, esa afición se convirtió en la creación de muebles, tablas de cortar artesanales y posavasos coloridos de madera de testa para mis seres queridos.
Sus reacciones siempre eran las mismas: grandes sonrisas, sorpresa genuina y el estribillo habitual: “Deberías vender esto… ¡Podrías ganar dinero extra!”.
Pero para mí, convertir un hobby en un negocio nunca me pareció del todo bien. Lo que sí me pareció bien fue usar este oficio para retribuir. Por eso creé esta tienda.
Todas las ganancias, después de los costos operativos básicos, se donan a organizaciones benéficas que realizan un trabajo significativo que cambia vidas, incluido Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, la Cruz Roja Estadounidense y otras cercanas a mi corazón.

After retiring, I started building toys for my granddaughters and friends—simple projects at first, then gradually larger ones. Before long, that hobby grew into crafting furniture, artisanal cutting boards, and colorful end‑grain coasters for the people I care about.
Their reactions were always the same: big smiles, genuine surprise, and the familiar refrain, “You should sell this… You could make extra money!”
But for me, turning a hobby into a business never felt quite right. What did feel right was using this craft to give back. That’s why I created this store.
All profits—after basic operating costs—are donated to charities doing meaningful, life‑changing work, including Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation, the American Red Cross, and others close to my heart.
