Make something and learn.
Creating and learning is what my life is all about. I heard someone say that creating is like praying; it puts you in a different level of thought that only your spirit can interpret. That made so much sense to me. I have to create something everyday and really get lost in it. It grounds me. When I look at something I admire, I wonder how it is made and what journey did the creator take in coming up with this final outcome? It fascinates me!
My little art dolls have evolved so much over the years. I've always made little people with the little scraps my mother would give me. Up in my attic, I have a special drawer that is labelled: doll museum. It holds a time line of all my past dolls and it is very hard to keep them because most of them are really hideous! But, looking at those old creations show me how much I've grown as a designer and it's a reminder of how exciting the future creations will be if I just keep taking risks and creating.
I may have too many interests: sewing, polymer clay, painting, knitting, crocheting, paper, bookmaking, . . . it goes on and on. I just bought a band saw and now I am excited to learn the craft of wood working. I laugh and tell my kids, "I hope reincarnation is an option out there, because I want to keep coming back to Earth and perfect all my different interests and keep discovering more!"
I am working towards turning this little Etsy shop into a full time business. For now, Mothering three teenagers is my Full Time job. In the meantime, I am learning so much from other successful Etsians and hopefully I will inspire someone out there someday!
