Natural soaps & skincare products. Good for you, good for the planet.

Botany Barn was born when a pair of sisters fresh out of grad school conveniently found themselves to be unemployed at the same time. The time was ripe to fulfill that longtime dream of opening an Etsy shop!

We had been making balms, butters, and other skincare products for years, and had more recently fallen in love with the art of soapmaking... And so it began!

My name is Sam and I run Botany Barn Canada. Inspired by a love of nature & food, I create eco-friendly products that are good for both you and the environment. That means sourcing organic & sustainable ingredients, no artificial fragrance oils, no palm oil, and no excessive packaging. All of my products are handcrafted in small batches to ensure freshness, using 100% natural ingredients like clays, botanicals, vegetables, and other things you might find in your own kitchen or garden.

I take pride in crafting my products with Baraka Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter, handmade by hardworking women and families in Northern Ghana. Pure, natural, unrefined and FairTrade Organic.

I source organic oils whenever possible to ensure you are receiving products that are free of chemical pesticides that are produced through sustainable practices. I also grow or locally source many of the herbs & botanicals used in my soaps. I do my best to minimize waste, such as the use of recycled materials, minimal packaging, and rebatched soap. If you receive an order packed with "air cushions" or biodegradable packaging peanuts - these are being reused from my supply orders to safely ship products to you :)

Botany Barn is committed to bringing you high quality, sustainable products that are both gentle on the skin and on the planet. Thank you so much for visiting my shop!

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

Soaps are wrapped carefully in recycled paper and are shipped in recycleable mailers or a cardboard box. If you have any special requests, such as when the item is a gift, please leave that information as a note to seller when checking out and I am happy to accommodate your request.

Custom and personalised orders

At Botany Barn Canada we love a challenge! Feel free to contact us with any special requests, such as special soap batches for showers, wedding favours, gifts, etc. We would be delighted to work with you on creating something special!

International Shipping

**International shipping is on hold during COVID-19**
Flat rate international ground shipping is available for $14 (CAD) for orders less than 500g. Please note that tracking is NOT available on international orders and your order will take an average of 4-6 WEEKS to arrive. Once orders are shipped out, the speed of postal services and International Customs is completely out of my hands. For faster shipping you can upgrade to $20 flat rate air shipping which should arrive in approximately 6-10 business days.
**Please contact me if you would like to make an order over 500g (e.g. more than 3 large bars of soap). Unfortunately shipping large orders internationally can get very pricey. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Care instructions

To ensure that your handmade soaps last as long as possible always keep them on a well-drained soap dish and allow the soap to dry between uses. Soap left in standing water can become soft and will not last as long.
Please allow for slight differences in the colour and size of our soaps, as all our soaps are handmade in small batches and cut by hand.
All Botany Barn Canada products are produced in a facility that uses almond, hazelnut and other nut oils, so please be aware of this for those with severe nut allergies.
Please consult a medical professional before using essential oils, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, or have any medical conditions as certain essential oils may not be recommended.
