I absolutely love designing an item that others may have not thought of, but, at the same time, I also enjoy making every-day items to brighten your home. My story of the birth of Bowslinger Crafts begins with the death of my best friend of 40 years. My soul mate and the greatest love of my life, Karen Pilcher. While teenagers, she introduced me to my husband of 35 years and was another mom to my kids. When she was diagnosed with Sarcoma, she was immediately sent to Baylor Dallas for surgery. This was right before Christmas, 2018. We lived 2 hours' drive from there. I grabbed some florals and decorations, and headed to Dallas, We spent hours decorating her hospital room. It was the last time we had "fun" together, even though she was in excruciating pain. When she died, and COVID hit, to pass the extra time and to feel closer to her, I started creating. It helps me heal, and still makes me feel closer to her when I'm making.
I chose the name "Bowslinger" in honor of another great woman in my life - my private violin teacher growing up, and later, my music supervisor, Dr. Kathy Rettelle, the original "Bowslinger".
