🌲 Brain Bothy Story 🏡
Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my wee Scottish store! I created this shop to share easy to access, person centred and psychologically informed care resources that I wish I had access to in my work and personal life. I hope that these items can help you, or anyone requiring care and those who support them.
Tucked away in the wild Scottish countryside, a bothy is a small, simple shelter—no electricity, no running water, no frills. Just a place to rest. A quiet pause in the middle of nature’s vastness.
You don’t need to book it. You don’t need to own it. You just show up, as you are. And that’s the beauty of it.
✨
As a psychologist—and someone who works closely with carers—I often think about how caring for someone with dementia can feel like navigating rough, uncertain terrain. Emotionally and physically tiring. Beautiful at times, but overwhelming too.
✨
That’s where the idea of a bothy feels powerful and why my store has its name! Every carer needs their own version of a bothy. A mental or emotional space where they can pause, breathe, and just be. No expectations. No guilt. Just rest.
You deserve that space and that is why I have created these dementia resources. 🫶
I am a psychological therapist and have been working in various mental health, physical health and dementia services for over 10 years. I have a first class honours degree in Psychology and a Masters in Psychological Therapies. I have also completed specialist training in Cognitive therapy and psychological responses to managing distress in dementia. I have also provided care for a family member with chronic health conditions and memory loss.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you find the resources helpful. If there is anything missing that you would like to see - please let me know!
Please Note: All work in this store is my own. Items available have been inspired by documents I use regularly in my work or have found helpful when working in care settings.
