Hello! I'm Kit, an artist and designer from the South West of England.
I started my creative journey taking photographs when I was at school, in the old days of spending hours in a stuffy darkroom, marveling at the magic of the alchemy that takes tiny bits of film, some paper, chemicals and light; and produces something you'd actually want to hang on your wall!
I've been so lucky to have been able to keep my commercial studio going for nearly 20 years now and during that time my love of image making has expanded into other media such as collage and graphic design. So, when I've stopped taking pictures for clients I just start making them for myself; experimenting with all the little ideas that come into my mind - usually things that make me smile.
And that's really what this Etsy shop is about – an outlet to share some of those images that no one has asked me to make but which I just felt a need to create. Always drawn to the quirky and surreal, I love a picture that makes someone smile and I have a weakness for vintage natural history illustration, too. You'll see all those influences scattered amongst the items here. I hope you'll enjoy them and it's a lovely idea to think that you'd like to have one hanging in your home or office maybe, giving a little pleasure every day.
