I have been custom designing leather crafted products for over 20 years. Everything from wallets, belts, wrist bracelets, cell phone sleeves, knife sheaths, key FOB's, western gun holsters to target archery quivers. Whew!!
As you look through my creations offered here in my Etsy store you will readily recognize the influences inspiring my designs. America's Southwest shapes and colors are reflected in just about everything I do. I spent many years traveling and exploring the deserts, canyons and mountains of Arizona and New Mexico. I fell in love with the vibrant sunsets and natural color palette of the Southwestern earth. Explosions of God's majesty!
Additionally, you'll see my military combat memories of my youth have re-emerged and inspired a new line of practical use designs for my military combat brothers. My military experience goes all the way back to the Vietnam War. I was a Huey chopper pilot then and saw a lot of combat during my tour of duty. I have an affectionate place in my heart for all military veterans, but have to admit there is a very special corner in my heart for the Vietnam Veterans. Especially the combat vets. Welcome home guys!
As I have evolved to my elderly years of life, so too have my creative priorities. Leathercrafting work in my later years has drifted to the creation of practical pocket products for the aging American combat warrior. Product designs very similar in practicality as my earlier Southwestern designs in structure and construction but more reflective of the military insignia and subdued colors. Soldier, sailor, Marine and airmen veterans look back fondly to their service and have many still have strong ties to the units and people they served with. The products I have created touch on that connection. They give the aging combat veteran something that brings those memories home with pride.
As the veteran warrior is showing his signs of age, I want my finished pieces to somehow reflect that same weathering that comes with those aging memories and bodies.
