Me and my corner
My name is Jess and I have four children, two boys and two girls. Before taking over as CEO of childhood operations (aka mom), I was a music therapist. I majored with a concentration in voice, learned guitar and piano in college, and even led an a cappella group before Anna Kendrick ever made it cool. I love to sing and make music with my children.
I love being creative in general. I dabbled in scrapbooking... by dabbled I mean that I made one book and have supplies sitting around for many, many more that may or may not have nine year old dust on it. I tried painting. One canvas. You can find that one painting in a very famous gallery called "unfinished" in a storage room in my basement. After these first very successful attempts at creativity, I asked for a sewing machine. I bet you can just imagine the look on my husband's face when I told him that NOW I wanted to learn how to sew and that I really, really, really was going to stick with it. Promise.
I'm pretty sure he bought me my trusty old Kenmore sewing machine just to prove me wrong. But, seeing that we've been married for ten years now, I'm sure he'll agree - that doesn't happen too often. He bought me that sewing machine in 2007 for Christmas. By August 2008, Butterfly Baby Place had its wings.
This entrepreneurship was never what I expected. I never imagined that this would be such an integral part of my life. I have met a lot of amazing people in my journey as both a business owner and a work at home mom. I am so thankful for many of those connections and for having the privilege of being a small part of so many happy occasions.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of the world. <3
