How I ended up here!
I began my journey into handmade jewelry by first starting as a buyer and seller of vintage costume jewelry. This was a tremendous learning experience and I have dozens of books on the history, construction, and various eras of costume jewelry.
After selling this type of jewelry for several years, I found myself increasingly drawn to the construction of these beauties of old. They are truly an art in and of themselves. As I accumulated my pieces I found that I had quite a supply of broken jewelry that had, in my opinion, life still left in them. So I slowly began my education in just how I could turn these bits and pieces into "new" vintage or repurposed jewelry for today's women.
My designing method could best be described as one of organized chaos. My design table is constantly covered with vintage bits and pieces, beads, rhinestones, brass stampings, and filigree along with other new jewelry components.
My greatest joy is to design a "new" piece of jewelry to present to my customers. I am not a production designer but approach each creation with the ultimate goal of offering a piece that my customer will not be seeing walking down the street toward her. This takes time and an ability to allow the separate pieces speak to me of what they will become. I try to incorporate a vintage piece when ever it is applicable to the overall design.
