CW Design's Story (The Map Chick)
Carol Sullivan’s excitement for design started as a young girl, when she would navigate the family on cross country road trips. Her mother, a native of Scotland, and artist herself nurtured Carol's artistic side in her formative years. Carol graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in graphic design, and after school headed to Chicago where her pursuit for design continued. After being asked to create a map for a friend’s destination wedding, Carol realized her passion for helping brides customize their special days in a style as unique as their own.
Six years later, Carol has designed over 1,600 maps, for weddings and events, and has broadened the scope of her work on weddings to an entire suite of options, from save-the-dates, wedding invitations, and thank you cards, totes, large free standing seating charts, and other favors and day of specialty items. Carol’s work has not only expanded, but has also gained recognition over the years, and has been featured in Brides Magazine, Chicago Style Weddings, Exquisite Weddings Magazine, Bliss Magazine, Gray Likes Weddings, My Weddings, Wedding Chicks, and Style Me Pretty.
Above all, Carol’s favorite part of her work is getting to know her clients. Her process allows her to get a sense of their style, tastes, and vision. Through her work, Carol tells the story of her couples through her art. This art can only be achieved through the collaborative process, where a client’s vision becomes crystallized in the details that become the memories of their special day.
When she isn’t creating maps, Carol spends time gathering daily inspiration from her beautiful children, Olivia (6) and Kienan (3) while enjoying a more laid back life in Texas with her husband, Jeremy, and beloved dog, Lulu.
