One Woman Shop Making Beautiful Things
Hi, I'm Dorothy and I am the owner of Caso Creative Designs!
Let me start my story by first telling you about my Mom. My mom worked as a seamstress until she became an elementary school teacher at 50 years old! She decided that she wanted to go back to school and nothing was going to stop her! That's the stock I come from!!
I learned how to sew by watching her and after I got married, I bought a sewing machine and started making curtains and bedding as well as some clothing. A couple of years later, my machine died and not long after that, hubby and I started a family. I never did get that machine fixed and went about my life being a wife, mother and working in HR and then eventually as a librarian!
When my husband and I moved down south, I decided I wanted to get a new sewing machine to sew myself some light summer clothes. With encouragement from hubby and my sisters, I got the machine and started looking for some patterns and some tutorials. I came across clothing patterns and tutorials, but the ones that really caught my eye were the bag-making tutorials and patterns! I started with pouches, moved on to totes, and eventually to backpacks, fanny packs, wallets - you name it!! I found something that I loved to do and that I was pretty good at. I began making gifts for all of my friends and family and after my husband and just about everyone else telling me I should open a shop - I did!! And here I am - doing something I love and getting better with every bag I make!
