I opened my first Etsy shop in 2011 when my love of thrift scores and estate steals threatened to overtake my closet, budget and time. Instead of quitting the hunt I started a store called Z2aBc: Z to A for the new beginnings that the fabulous vintage items I found were getting, and BC for my beloved little coastal/mountain town of Boulder Creek, California. After several years, hundreds of sales and countless stories told and lived, I realized I was more interested in focusing my time and energy on creating new designs than curating old finds and changed my shop's name and contents to reflect the shifts in my own life and style: California Zephyr was (re)born.

As California Zephyr, my mission is to design and create whimsical & occasionally wearable narrative art incorporating image, text, type and graphic design that references and is inspired by flamboyant historical moments, both cultural and personal. A notorious dabbler, I will often spend months on one narrow pursuit, only to switch it up at the flashbulb of a new idea - so expect variety, and come back often to see what new fascinations I've found to share with you... whether it's oil-painted portraits, musically nostalgic necklaces or a collection of outrageous silk ties.
