Painter, printmaker, educator, traveler, bird enthusiast
I am a multimedia 2D artist specializing in paint, collage and print media. My work reflects my time living overseas, and my curiosity about the world. I have a desire to translate images into different media, or use media as a way to shift a perspective.
I’m inspired by the possibilities inherent in different media. My favorites have been oil sticks, acrylics, collage and now linocut and digital media.
I’m shifting into using media that creates a cleaner feel for my messy ideas.
My subject matter is usually nature, animals, sometimes mundane scenes from home, sometimes completely abstract imagery that begins to feel like a distant landscape the more I work on it. I like to make art that creates a window into a world the viewer would not otherwise find- what it’s like to live in a certain place, or be close to a nebulous mysterious thing. My art is as much about playing with perspectives and imagination as it is about an aesthetic experience.
I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I received a BA in English literature and an MEd. I lived and worked overseas for 15 years, in South Korea, Myanmar, Hungary, Azerbaijan and Belgium. I moved back to the U.S. in 2021 to devote more time to my art practice. My work can be found in and around Tulsa, Brussels, Yangon and further afield.
