Engineer by day, woodcrafter by night.
Hey everyone, this is Jon - a software engineer by day, and a woodcrafter by night - an unlikely combination! Like a lot of kids who grew up during the dot-com boom, computes were everything - I "built" my own computers and did all the nerdy stuff, I was determined to be an engineer and got an engineering degree...
Then it all changed when my wife and I bought our first place and moved in together for the first time. It was time to get some furniture and build our ideal home.
We had spent every last penny we had on the soaring housing market, but still had an eye for furniture that was a bit nicer and would last a bit longer than a Billy bookshelf. Instead of buying the $5000 live edge dining tables we were looking at, as a joke, my wife challenged me to build it instead. Little did she expect that I would take her seriously, and as they say, the rest is history.
Today, I spent most of my free time in the wood shop, coming up with ideas for innovative wood-based designs to continue to grow our home sweet home, and occasionally surprise her with some secret creations :) I've been blessed to also share some of my creations with my friends and family, and now to you, my Etsy family! And thank you as well for helping me grow and hone my skills to become a better version of myself.
My most successful items have proven to be kitchen-related wood crafts, such as end grain cutting boards, serving trays, and food storage containers, however I also spend a lot of time working on larger furniture such as coffee tables, dining tables, bookshelves, and others!
