Classical Singer turns Rock Wrapper
Classical Singer turns Rock Wrapper. I have a full time job and sometimes it gets very hecktic with time constraints and multiple people involved to make tranactions work. Being said, I needed to fullfil my creative side after the world shutting down during Covid. I always loved collecting rocks and one day, someone sent to me a picture of a zen wrapped rock and asked. "what do you think of this?" I was amazed at the complexity of the wrapping and also the beauty of the stone which was chosen to wrap. It was an "wow" moment for me and I quickly went on my computer to find out more about this artform. I do not call it a craft because I feel that being based on Japanese basketry and knotting techniques, it is more than a craft.
My designs capture the raw elegance of natural stones from New England shores . I have taught myself techniques of wrapping without glue or tape and added a creative artistic design based on the formation, color, striations, etc. of the stones. With the finished art piece, I hope to create a symbol of mindfulness and a connection to the earth's energy for those who are looking for this in their life or to bestow that on another.
