The Shop of Freelance Artist and Illustrator, Curtis Allen
I've always drawn ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. (Slightly alarmingly, when I was very young, I wanted to draw everything "broke" - possibly because I had back then the fascination I still have for seeing inside thigs to see how they work.
I used to be mostly pictures just for my own amusement but every so often, occasionally I did the odd commission for someone.
A friend put me in touch with the publishers Wiley-Blackthorn when they were looking for an illustrator, and I've produced illustrations for a few of their books now. After having drawn pictures of a few of my friends, I started offering canvasses of caricatures for sale on Etsy. And after drawing personalised Christmas cards for all my friends one year, I thought I should give it a go at seeing if I could sell some I'd drawn.
Here is the result of that thought.
This is my Etsy shop of hand-drawn illustrated items. At the moment, it is almost exclusively steampunk or dieselpunk flavoured greetings cards but as and when I get chance to add more things like book-boxes or trinkets I've made for sale, they'll go up here too.
I currently have a full-time job working as an educator at Cadbury World and a few other part-time jobs such as DJing and stilt-walking so I don't get as much time to create new products nearly as often as I would like, but as often as I can, I'll get new products up on here.
Currently, most of what I draw I draw on paper with pencils, then scan it into Photoshop for the colouring and adding effects and photomanipulations. My cards are a combination of my own original drawings, and photographs I've taken of items such as frames, keys, cogs, and so on.
Have a look, and see what you think of my offerings.
